Six ways to play
Build your fortress
Twig to armored. Foundations, walls, floors, roofs, windows and doors in wood, metal and HQM, behind locks and code locks. High external walls and gates keep the ground yours.
Fight and raid
Bows, pistols, shotguns, SMGs and rifles, with scopes and silencers on the bigger guns. Every shot lands on the part of the body you hit, so headshots matter. Rockets, C4 and satchels open a base — a metal wall shrugs off bullets.
Loot and craft
Hunger and thirst never stop: hunt boars, grow corn and pumpkin in planters, catch your own water. Then loot the crates, barrels and keycard doors at the monuments — recyclers break salvage down, furnaces and the refinery turn it into something worth carrying.
Sail and explore
Raft, kayak or motorboat. Sail off the edge of your island and the next one is already there. A kayak or motorboat waits where you moor it; a raft drifts with the sea.
Automate and electrify
Wind turbines, solar panels and batteries. Lights, searchlights, alarms and auto turrets on switches. Conveyors, crafters and storage adapters move items between containers for you.
Trade with the world
Vending machines sell anything for anything. Market terminals at the monuments let you browse and buy from every vending machine in the world — what you buy is waiting at the terminal, so trade means a trip. Gun and costume skins come from the store on this site.
One world, six continents
There is one world and everybody is in it — no server list, no world select. 19,800 archipelagos of five islands each, 99,000 islands in all, laid out so that whichever way you sail there is another shore.
An address you can share
Every archipelago has an address like East America H15-21, and every island a name like H15-21 West Island. The map zooms in four steps, from your own archipelago out to the whole world.
The next island is right there
Sail off the edge of an island and you arrive at the next one. Build a kayak to get moving, then a raft or a motorboat once you have a workbench.
Islands sleep, then wake as you left them
An island with nobody on it goes to sleep and comes back exactly as it was. Your base keeps paying upkeep while you are gone, and keeps decaying by the same rules.
Servers in your part of the world
West America, East America, Europe, Southeast Asia, East Asia and Oceania, each served by game servers in that part of the world, so the ping stays low wherever you live.
Play your way
Pad or keyboard
Play on mouse and keyboard, or pick up a pad — full controller support, with Xbox and PlayStation button icons. Map and inventory on the d-pad, voice on View or Share, toggle crouch, and an on-screen keyboard for typing without one.
Eight of you, talking
Teams of up to eight, with team chat of your own and hold-to-talk voice that anyone close enough can hear — enemies included. Go down and a teammate can revive you; sleeping bags decide where you wake, and the death screen lists them across every continent.
Bases that hold themselves
Damaged pieces repair themselves from the tool cupboard's stock, and deployables in range repair for free. Run a material dry and everything your cupboard bills decays — the doors, windows and gates in your walls included.
Pick an island. Start with a rock.
The world is already running. Download for Windows and find a shore that nobody has claimed.

Password-reset mail is sent from our own address now, and the trailer plays on the front page.
Doors and windows decay with the rest of the base
When the cupboard runs out of a material, everything made of it decays — doors, windows, gates and embrasures included.
Drops stay put, and the pad has new defaults
Dropped items stop falling through walls, adapters snap onto containers, and the controller ships with better defaults and a full-window map.
